Fifty Stars Go Back to School: Color the Story

Fifty Stars Go Back to School: Color the Story is a kids coloring book about America that brings the Fifty Stars’ school adventure to life. You can color it, read it, and reinforce the lessons.

This companion coloring and activity book extends the patriotic picture book Fifty Stars Go Back to School: The Cheat Sheet That Became the Study Guide by Libby Hikind. It helps children engage with the story in a creative and interactive way.

When the President sends the stars on the American flag back to school for a big civics test, panic spreads across the sky. Alaska and Hawaii, the newest stars, feel especially nervous. Studying feels difficult, answers do not stay put, and the pressure builds. However, Alaska makes a cheat sheet, just in case.

As the stars learn together, they receive help from the flagpole and the stripes. The flagpole quizzes them, and the stripes hand out papers. Through this process, they discover that listening, writing things down, and studying in different ways can turn fear into confidence.

This kids coloring book about America includes:

• The full text of the original story woven throughout for easy rereading and reinforcement
• Bold, large illustrations inspired by key scenes, including classroom moments, group studying, flag formations, and celebration
• Additional activities such as simple prompts, civics question spotlights, and light exercises that support learning

In addition, the book introduces gentle lessons on test anxiety, learning styles, honesty, and American values. Age-appropriate civics questions about government, rights, and the American flag are naturally included. As a result, families and teachers can pause, discuss, and explore these ideas together.
